Apila is a comics artist/illustrator currently living in Helsinki. They are originally from a small town called Siilinjärvi in Eastern Finland. Apila has been making comics ever since they could hold a pen. Their comics often deal with themes of queer identity and feminism.
Apila published their first graphic novel MOSSDASH in 2016. Their comics have been published in a variety of anthologies, magazines and online publications.
Recently Apila has been illustrating a lot of books especially for children and young adults. They have an interest in combining comics to other art forms such as animation, clothing and tattoos.
Apila has studied graphic design in Aalto University. They work at Studio Hellä, where they also make colourful cartoony tattoos.
