Sanna Hukkanen is an artist, illustrator and comics activist from
North Karelia in Finland. In her comics she explores themes like
nature, mythology and folklore but also human rights, environmental
issues and multiculturalism. Most of her comics are based on her own
experiences and observations. She enjoyes making black and white line
drawings but also likes to use colour in different techniques for
change. Manual drawing is her passion and she avoids using computer in
her art work. Sanna also organises comics workshops for different
NGO’s and minority groups. Her background is in fine arts, as well as
in activism. Comics can combine these two and she believes that comics
have great potential to make a change.
