Viivi is a comics artist and a little bit crazy. Her artist statement is
to draw comics about madness as long as the Finnish word for crazy, “hullu”, is no longer an insult. Her first graphic novel Mielisairaalan kesätyttö (Suuri Kurpitsa, 2015) was voted the best album of 2015 in Finland by comics professionals (Sarjainfo-magazine). After the book Rintanen continues her quest to reduce the stigma of madness with her blog Hulluussarjakuvia. In the blog project people send to Rintanen real-life stories of madness. She scripts the stories with storytellers and draws them into webcomics.
